Most classic tachometers operate by detecting the high-voltage inductive spike generated by the ignition coils. This converter amplifies the signal to the required level, allowing the original period-correct gauges to be retained without modification.
Note: These converters are compatible only with RVC tachometers. They are not suitable for RVI (current-sensing), such as the Smiths tachometers used in S1 and S2 E-Type Jaguars.
