Historic BRM P201 from 1974 success takes pride of place at Race Retro on FBHVC stand!

Reis Race Retro is being staged at Warwickshire’s Stoneleigh Park on 23-25 February 2024.

BRM P201 Chassis 1 will be on display on the Federation of British Historic Vehicle Club’s stand (2-327), almost 50 years to the day since it was shipped out to South Africa for the Team's final Podium Finish in Grand Prix Racing.

In this car Jean-Pierre Beltoise took 2nd place at Kyalami on 30 March 1974. This was BRM's last podium finish as a Rubery Owen-backed team.

Also, at Race Retro on an adjoining stand Motul will be re-creating the 'Team Motul BRM' Kyalami experience with a specially commissioned BRM P201 Simulator allowing visitors both young and not so young to race the car on the fabled South African track in a virtual experience not to be missed.

BRM's new sponsor for that 1974 season was French oil giant Motul, with the new P201 designed by Mike Pilbeam.

Though the car was originally designed for Niki Lauda, his move to Ferrari meant an additional distinctive French connection through BRM drivers -  Jean-Pierre Beltoise, Henri Pescarolo, and Francois Migault.

Pescarolo and Migault were new to BRM, Beltoise had driven with the team for the previous two seasons, and most notably scored his Monaco GP win in 1972 in the Marlboro-BRM P160.
